Stephen vs. Stephanie
We are having b/g twins. I really like Stephen (pro Stef-in) and Stephanie, but do you think their too close? Also if we use Stephen for the boy, do you think the nickname Steph is too girly?
The Top Baby Name is...
I see Stefan & Stephanie are to close
Steven & Stephanie would be ok--even thought both are some what outdated
of course they’re too close stephanie is the feminine form of stephen, i say choose stephen for a boy and find a different name for a girl, i think if you’re gonna call him stephen then his nn would be steve but if you’re gonna call him stephan or stefan then i don’t see any problem with the nn steph or stef, one of my friends is called stefan and he gets calls stef a lot.
WAY too close. That’s like naming my kids, Alexander and Alexandra. They’re the same name but for different genders.
Pick the one you REALLY like and see about a different name. Also, nicknames will come naturally after they’re born. We call my cousin Stephanie, Steph so you might end up with that also.

Yes they are too close and they are both way dated. Not a fan at all - go back to the drawing board or just use some from the list above - there are some great ones there. And also I think Steph or Stef would be girly for a boy. Sorry. GL
They are too close. I like both names...but I think you should pick the one you like the best. Like the first poster said, Steven and Stephanie wouldn’t be too bad. GL!!
