Yes, why do you care if other people you don’t know are giving their children middle names? If you want to, go ahead, and if not, it doesn’t make a difference whether someone else will do the same.

It is traditional to give a child a middle name, but I do know one family that didn’t give a middle name to their daughter because they had two longer last names that were hyphinated so they decided a middle name would be too much.

I had a friend in high school who did not have a middle name and hated that she didn’t have one, so when she turned 18, she went and gave herself a mn.... all in all, I think a mn is a traditional way of making people different
