Our son is coming vs. Need a name with a "y" vs. Unique and trendy- but not trashy.

Hello again. It’s John and Vance. After much consideration, we have decided that we would like our sons name to have a "y" in it, just as his sisters, Macy, Layla and Caitlyn. We think "R" is going to be the best letter to have it start with, though we are struggling to decide. We think Ryker and Ryder are too trendy- or not to be rude, but a little trashy. Right now, we love Ryland, Ryler and Ryan. The only issue is that with 3 girls, we are afraid that someone might assume that Ryan is also a girl. We both know someone with a little girl named Ryan, so it may be out of the question, even though we really love it. He is due very soon. Help if you can. Thanks.

Royce is the only one I can think of.

None of your girls have unisex names so I doubt somebody would think Ryan was a girl in that sibset. Though someone will undoubtedly call him a girl no matter what at some point. I once had my six month old son sitting naked on a towel in a locker room and someone asked "How old is she?" His legs weren’t even together or anything.

I think you should go with Ryan if you really like it.

I agree with the poster who sags no one will think Ryan is a girl. Your girls don’t have unisex names or boys names.....so Ryan would clearly be a boy.

Ryler is made up and looks silly.

Choose Ryan. Yes, there may be girls starting to use it, but the same thing is happening with other guy names too. Jaden, Payton, ect. It’s ok to use it! You love it so go for it! There might be one or two people who think that he’s a girl, but most will just assume that he’s a boy. It’s still considered a masculine name. Good luck!

Whatever name you choose, you could turn around in a year and find that some celebrity used it for her daughter and now lots of people are using it for girls (speaking from experience). There’s really no telling what the next boy name will be hot for girls. So you might as well go with what you love. Ryan is a very handsome name.

Ryan is a boys name that only recently some parents have used for girls. It is not a name yet associated with girls though so I wouldnt worry about it.
