Is it vs. okay?

I want to name my son Brett but our last name is Stewart. I’m worried about his initials being BS. Should I still name him Brett or pick a different name that doesn’t start with a B?

How about Rhett?

It does matter some, but not that big of a deal. I also like the suggestion of Rhett though.

It’s obviously something you picked up on and are worried about. so no I wouldn’t use the name Brett.

Honestly, how often do you think about someone elses initials? How often do your initials come into play at all in your every day life? If it matters at all, it will matter for a day.

Rhett is a nice alternative. Thanks for the feedback.

Something else. Kids can be cruel

Yes, kids can be cruel. But if that’s the worst they can find to pick on your child about are his initials, BS, then he’s probably going to be fine. I say if you like it don’t worry about the initials. I wouldn’t.

I don’t think initials are that important unless they collectively spell a bad word. I don’t think BS is a big deal.

I think it’s very handsome and his initials would be something else anyway, if you give him a middle name.

NOT Rhett-Google Rett syndrome, people! And people will notice his first and last initials of BS and WILL make fun of him!

I’ve got to be honest, I’m one of the most extremely open minded people, but I think you should try to avoid the nn BS.... I mean, it might never even matter and I wouldn’t have immediately thought of it, so maybe it’s just the initial pointing it out shock factor and it won’t be that big of a deal.
Do what you think is best and the most important thing is to teach him to be confident cause the rest doesn’t matter.
But my ultimate advice, if you REALLY love the name that much, go for it, but if you could find another you’d love just as much, I might look around a bit.
