Emma Cathleen vs. Maliyah Cathleen vs. Chloe Cathleen

Hi! We’re having a baby girl in December and can’t decide on the perfect name! My mother in law passed away 2 weeks ago, so in honor of her, we are giving our daughter her middle name, Cathleen. I almost want to give our little girl 2 middle names, so opinions about that would be nice too! Thank you all in advance!! (:

Emma Cathleen is pretty no need for two middle names.

Emma or Chloe--- not even sure how to pronounce Maliyah
I like two middle names

Chloe Emma Cathleen is pretty! I voted for Chloe Cathleen because I like the alliteration (and the option of the nickname CC!)

I love Emma Cathleen!

I think two middle names would be fine considering you’re honoring someone with one name. I can understand you wanting another name that you like.

Malia Nelson has such a lovely sound, especially with this spelling. It is also so much less popular than the other two. Malia Cathleen Nelson is very nice.

I agree that Malia Cathleen is nice. Maria Cathleen would be nice too.

I would not suggest two middle names.

I don’t see why two middle names is such a big problem.

I voted for Chloe. It is beautiful. I would have voted for Malia if spelled this way, but I dislike the added y & h quite a bit. Emma is nice too, but pretty common these days.

As far as the double mn goes, that depends. Was there a mn you were set on before adding Cathleen? If so, perhaps that would be the thing to do. If not, I do think names sound best most of the time with only one mn.

Good luck.

I love Chloe, but not with Cathleen. Cathleen is such an ugly name, in my opinion...

That’s not helpful Madi. She’s honoring her mother in law. Have some respect!

I appreciate all of your opinions! I really do. This is tough. And I’m not a big fan of the name Cathleen myself. But it is to honor my mother in law. That’s kind of why I wanted 2 middle names. Which isn’t uncommon in my family. My brother and 2 other daughters all have 2 middle names. I would’ve liked Emma Grace...or Chloe something with Cathleen added. This is so difficult though to choose!

Originally I was one that said not to do two middle names but since your other daughters have two then I would do so for this one also. I think it’s nice that you are willing to use a name you don’t like to honor your late MIL

I personally have decided not to use two middle names just for the headache of filling out forms, etc. It just seems like such a hassle. So the decision to use just one middle name is purely practical. Having two middle names if they are not too long, or in cases like this, would be nice if the system would cooperate.

Emma Cathleen-Grace Nelson would be v nice.

Emma Grace Cathleen Nelson is nice. I see Emma Grace as the first name in this combo. This would be a nice option.

Have you considered using mil’s initials or mn, if you are not a fan of Cathleen? Chloe is the same initial as Cathleen, pick a mn you love that has her middle initial as well. What is mil’s mn, could you use that as baby’s mn instead? Or even use something like Chloe Lianne, which sounds a bit like Cathleen, w/ a twist.

Another thought, Emma Caitlin is really pretty. It uses another form of Cathleen, thus honoring mil.

I’m not trying to confuse things here, just brainstorming out if the box a bit. Good luck!

Oh wait, Cathleen is her mn, that changes a few of my above suggestions a bit, but you get the idea:). Good luck!

Lol. Yes, Cathleen is. You’re ideas are still helpful though! Thank you!

Alexis Lynn-Marie
Hailey Sai-Nicole
Emma Grace-Cathleen

Alexis Lynn-Marie
Hailey Sai-Nicole
Chloe Lena-Grace (Lena is Cathleen-inspired & Grace is a name you like which is quite suited in both sound and meaning for your situation).
Or Chloe Cathleen-Grace
