Baby Name Poll Results
Atem (Prn A-Tem) vs. Yes vs. No
I just went to check on my poll I made last night only to find its gone, I’m rather upset by this as I really wanted some help with my sons name. Why can’t some people understand that not all of use like popular or trendy names for our children? There is a fine line between common sense and crazy when it comes to name choices, I for one like uncommon first names and common middle names. What do you think of the name Atem for our son? Atem is prn A-Tem or A-Ten only with an M instead of an N. we would also love some middle names as we are having trouble finding ones that flow well that we like. Please help.
The Top Baby Name is...
|Atem (prn a-tem)

I’d go with Aiden or Adrian.
Atem is trendy is it’s own sense. The trend right now is to either go with super-popular old names, OR come up with a weird name that no one has in an effort to be unique. This name fits in with the rest of that second group’s crowd.
If your voting no please give a reason why? It helps give us a better understanding.
I second what the first poster said. It’s unique, but it looks made up. Everyone these days is doing that. I’d try to find an uncommon name that’s not super rare.
Not a fan. I’m all for uncommon but I think that sometimes uncommon can also be unusable. And personally I think it is unusable. Sounds like ate em to me.
It sounds like Ate ’em. Are you open to suggestions? No trendy or super popular names, I promise.
It sounds like your saying ate him. That’s why I’m voting no.
I think if you are going to use it you should use the original spelling Atum. That way it has its roots in ancient Egypt.
Just go with Adam. Atem is trying too hard to be unique. Adam is lovely.
Feel free to suggest other names, but if we can’t find a name we like more than Atem we will stick with it as its hard to let go of the names you love.
Atem is nice, but I think I prefer the original spelling of Atum. I’ll be back in a few minutes to give middle names, when I have time!
I’d use it as a middle name if you love it so much. He’s the one who has to live with it.
I do think it’s wrong that your poll was taken down though. There was a poll on here yesterday where someone was pretending to want to name their child Firefly and that poll was never removed. Your poll is obviously legit and they take it down... it’s crazy!
Sorry your poll got removed... Aiden is extremely popular right now, and names with -ayden endings as well. Some people just like other types of names besides your everyday Wyatts, and Masons, and Olivers. I think it’s cool to come up with a name, if it doesn’t sound too ridiculous, and Atem is just fine in my opinion. If society didn’t frown upon it, I would make up names, too. Suggestions:
@ poster 7, we didn’t think of that. We will consider using Atum as Egypt is very close to our hearts (I won’t go into it). If we do use Atum what would be some good middle names?
From the suggestions
Anakin is interesting
Here are some other names you might like:
Lysander or Leander (Lee-ander)
We are also liking
Maybe you’d also like Set, another Egyptian figure (I think it’s very handsome!)
I’m all for unique names, but I don’t find Atem attractive, and I feel like a lot of people would say it like the word atom.
Atum was the name of the Egyptian creator god. I wouldn’t use the name because I don’t believe in Egyptian mythology. Here are some uncommon names to consider:
Soren - "stern"
Bertram - "eagle power"
Andreas - German form of Andrew
Anselm - "god" + "helmet, protection"
Detlef - "people heritage"
Gerard/Gerhard ("spear" + "strong, brave")
Oooh, I know! Name that poor Lil guy A-Team. Then his name will have a rad connection to Mr. T. I pity the fool
