It might work, but you could also use Reba as a nickname for Rebecca. I think Reba works better as a nickname for Rebecca, but I love the name Ruby better than I like Reba.

I’ve actually met a girl named Rubecca (pronounced the same) who went by Ruby so I think it’s possible.
