I don’t think dates are particularly important, names are coming back all the time. I think Valerie is pretty and uncommon, a great combination.

I guess I’m going to be the odd ball out, I don’t like the name in general but then to add on top of it all the Valerie’s I’ve known thought my life are either the "mean girl" in school or a boss that turns criminal or just an all around bad and disrespectful boss( 2 different boss Valerie’s) that not to say your daughter would turn out like the Valerie’s I know but that’s just been my experience with then name.

Yes, way too dated. I think of someone from the 80s or 90s.

No! It is a lovely name and personally I don’t think any name is to dated. (well except Charlemagne, why did I have to fall in love with it? :P). If you like it, use it.

I’m cracking up. Valerie is a beautiful name! Those who say it is "dated" are the very people who suggest names like Lily, Eloise, Philippa, and Adelaide, never once thinking that they sound like incredibly old, wrinkled women. Go with Valerie. It’s definitely not a new name, but that doesn’t detract from its loveliness.
