Amalia girl vs. Cruz boy

What do you think of our picks for our first baby?? Not sure what sex yet. Others have suggested Amelia but I just dont like it. I like Amalia pro Ama Leah not Amar Leah. How would you pronounce it as I dont want a child that has to correct people all the time. Thanks

I’m glad you actually spelled Amalia correctly, however, every time I hear it I think of Animalia, a scientific class for Animals.

Cruz is okay but I prefer it as a middle name. Some people just can’t carry the name. It’s just so short.

I don’t care for either name, but especially Cruz, sorry.
I if I saw it somewhere I would pronounce Amalia..Ah-mall-ya. Or Ah-male-ya...I don’t find either attractive. What about Amelie?

I love Amalia but Cruz is O.K. if I remember correctly Carlos was on your list. I like that one, if i’m correct.

As babys surname is a long one we choose Cruz as its a short name and as baby will be Polynesian (olived skinned, dark eyes) we think Cruz will siut. As for Amalia I really like it the way I pronounce it but Im thinking its not gonna be pronounced the way I want...Mmmm Im not so sure now. We can find boys names easier and have trouble deciding on a girls name. Im feeling right from the start that its a girl though lol.

What about Camellia? cah-meal-ya...that is kind of close to the pronunciation of Amalia you were trying for. Or: Bianca, Alessandra, Francesca...all those little girls have dark eyes and hair in my imagination.

I think if you pronounce the baby’s name how you like it, people will eventually catch on. If you like Amalia, use it. As someone with an often mispronounced name (Coleen), it’s not that big a hassle.
