Finley vs. boy name vs. girl name

considering naming our baby girl Finley/Finleigh Grace but some say it’s much too masculine. Opinions?

You wont be the first or the last to have used it for a girl. Its a boy name. Period. Just another person making naming a boy harder.

Traditionally, its a boys name. They would laugh at you over in Great Britain and Ireland if you used it for a girl. But Americans really don’t seem to care too much about tradition.

I prefer it on a girl, it sounds girly! And I prefer Finn on a boy.

Traditionally it is a boy name. But when you look it up on the Social Security website it comes up as a girl name ranked 290 for girls in 2013. (it was ranked 483 for boys)

I didn’t even know it was a name until my cousin named her daughter Finley, so I have always thought it was a girl’s name.

I think it’s a boy’s name. I know a lot of people have been using it on girls, along with a bunch of other names, but I wish they wouldn’t. What about Fiona, or Ainsley?

This is the reason why 200 years from now there will be about 100, 000 + "girl names" and only about 50 exclusively "boy names". Because apparently everything thats supposed to be masculine "sounds feminine" or "sounds cuter on a girl"

Grace is lovely but I only like Finley on a boy. If you do use it though, I much prefer the spelling Finley to Finleigh on either gender.

i like a lot of "unisex" names, and i like some "boy" names on girls, but i’m not a fan of Finley on a girl sorry. how about
