Ammie (Eh-Mee) is a more appropriate nickname for Amethyst. Not Amy. Its pretty i like it.

Amy is as appropriate a nn for Amethyst as Kate is for Katherine. The nickname doesn’t have to correspond exactly to the pronunciation of the full name.

I think Amethyst and Amy are cute.

I like it. Amy is fine as a nickname. I know of a book character, actually, named Amethyst and called Amy. I don’t know that I’d use a nickname, though. It’s such a striking name, it seems a shame not to use it as is.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this name. Use it. The people that say its ugly are the ones stuck in the past naming their children Emma and Michael. USE IT!!!!

I think Amethyst is lovely (so are Sophia, Olivia, Ava, Emma, Ella and Charlotte). I’m not sure why people think that if you like a name like Amethyst, you can’t like a more popular name too.

I really don’t think it’s attractive. It kind of sounds like cyst, which isn’t all that great of an association.
