Selah vs. YES vs. NO

Selah YES or NO, and how would you pronounce? Unisex or girl’s name? Looking for a biblical girl’s name to go with brothers Jonah and Eli. Selah is a Hebrew Biblical word to indicate a musical pause. Original Hebrew pronunciation of Selah is SEL-lah; actress Sela Ward pronounced SEE-lah; and Christian band Selah pronounced SAY-lah. I like SAY-lah and SEE-lah, but think spelling is closer to SEE-lah.

I think girl and its going tobe pronounced see-lah.i am sheya and people have said it she-ya my whole life and my mom was going for shey-ya. But that is not how people see it. I would spell it like sayla if that is what you want for her name.

Thx! Forgot to ask ... if NO to Selah, why? If YES, why do you like it?

Seh-lah like Stella with out the T. I think it’s classy sounding and not a name you hear every day. I like it!

My daughter’s name is Sleah. I love the name more and more everyday. I have heard it pronounced See-lah and Sell-ah but we pronounce it Seh-lah (say-la).

I would pronounce it Seh-lah, as someone commented above. Stella without the T. Sounds like a girlier name to me. I like it.

I would pronounce it sell-uh.

I had never heard it as sel-lah before so I definitely wouldn’t say that one.For some reason the H on the end would affect how I say it.
Selah=say-lah
Sela=see-lah
Both are nice but I think I slightly prefer Selah.

I don’t like, for the reasons you brought up - no one will ever pronounce or spell it correctly. I also don’t think it’s all that great sounding. I would’ve said it as See-luh.
