There was a famous baseball player Willie Mays so although maybe a lot of people wouldn’t make that connection, it just doesn’t sound right to me for a little girl.

No. Willie is so unattractive on a guy, so it’s really, really unattractive on a girl. I also wouldn’t name my girl after a name that is sometimes used a synonym for a [removed]. Mae just makes the name sound extremely southern, especially paired with Willie.

So cute! Love it. Willie is a unisex name, not a boys name everybody. It just isn’t used on girls as much as it used to be. It used to be in the top 100 for girls in the 1880s!
