There are a lot of elle names you could use. No need to make your child look uneducated by spelling Alaska wrong. When students learn the states you don’t think they will comment so your parents can’t spell.

I actually preferred Alaska but my husband preferred Elaska. Didn’t see it as that much of a issue, I will discuss spellings with him again.

I would rethink the spelling. Don’t misspell something just to fit the nickname you want. Find a different name to fit the nickname you want. Misspelling a name, especially the name of a State, looks reflects really bad on you and your child.

I also like Alaska far more than Elaska, which just looks funny to me. Alaska Mae nicknamed Allie would be sweet.
