Baby vs. Marty

I want to name my son Martin nn Marty. It is customary in my family to have double middle names so I’ve picked Samuel (after my brother, Sam) and Adrian (my mom’s middle name is Adrienne and my best friend/Marty’s godfather is named Adrian). At first, I was stuck between Martin Samuel Adrian and Martin Adrian Samuel but then I realized that his initials (and first name) would be SAM if I ordered them Samuel Adrian Martin. I also like the flow better in this option. I’m just not sure about him going by his second middle name. Thoughts? These three names are not changing.

I really like Samuel Adrian Martin but I also like Martin Samuel Adrian.

I honestly have to say that Samuel Adrian Martin is my favorite though.

Thank you. So do you not think it’s an issue with him going by Marty despite that being his middle name?

My full name is Bridget Lynn and my family and friends call me Lynn all the time(mainly because cousin’s name is Bridget as well) but I didn’t start being called by my middle name until I was 12. I think calling him Marty despite his first name being Samuel might be a little confusing if you start it at a young age. I think if you were going to call him Marty I would wait until he’s a little older that way it’s not as confusing for him. GL! -first commenter

If he is going by Marty, I would make Martin his first name no matter what. It just makes things so much easier. Especially because both his middle names may not even fit on some forms, so the second one (that Marty comes from) may get dropped on some things, leading to a lot of confusion on why he is Marty...if that makes sense.

I would go with Martin Samuel Adrian

I think if you are going to call him Marty you should go with Martin as a first name. Martin Samuel Adrian.

I would definitely vote for Samuel as the first name if you were actually going to call him Samuel or Sam. I think it’s so handsome. However, since you’re going to call him Martin/Marty, I would save him the hassle and just use Martin as the first name. I think Martin Samuel Adrian has the best flow of the two with Martin as the first name.
