are these vs. names vs. trendy?

We’re just starting the process of searching for names for our baby and so far we like these but they seem like they’ve become very popular... do any strike you as "trendy"? Names in first comment. Thanks

People have different definitions of trendy. For me, if it’s a classic then it can’t be trendy. It may be mega-popular, but as a classic it will still have meaning and resonance twenty, fifty and a hundred years from now.

So from your list the only ones that I would call trendy are Avery and Rory (on a girl). The it’s-a-man’s-world-so-give-her-a-male-name trend is one of my biggest naming peeves. I could be completely wrong, it wouldn’t be the first time, but I’m hoping this trend doesn’t last. Good luck! :0)

Agree with the first poster. I would maybe add Kiera and Zuri to that too.

Zuri is a traditional Swahili girl’s name. It means "beautiful." :0)

P.S. I don’t mind boyish nicknames on girls, like Maxine / Max. It can be quite cute. :0)

I think that it is trendy right now to use old lady names. so Hazel, Olivia, Olive, Beatrix, Lily and maybe Phoebe and Maxine fall into that category. Avery is trendy right now. trendy doesn’t necessarily mean the name is bad.
On a side note, I think it is funny when people think the boy name on girls is a new trend and that it will end soon. It has been happening for years. and it is the reason that names like Courtney, Cassidy, Hillary, Allison, Loren (Lauren) are now more common on girls than boys but were once dominate as boy names.

Kiera is my very favorite, and I really don’t think it’s trendy at all. My next favorites are Hazel, Sophie, and Olive.
My least favorites are: Tallulah, Max, Phoebe, and Avery

I agree with poster 2. Avery and Rory are really the only trendy names on that list.

Some of the names are very popular, like Olivia and Sophie/Sophia. But they’re not trendy, just popular.

Check your name choices on the social security website to see how popular they are.
