Rhett MN vs. Rhett MN

I was set on Rhett Thomas for a very long time, as Thomas is my grandpa’s middle name, but Thomas is also the name of someone in my husband’s family who we feel very strongly about NOT naming our son after.. So I don’t want to spend the rest of his life explaining who he is actually named after (or causing problems with that side of the family). Unfortunately that puts us at a total loss! What are some good middle names for Rhett? Also, what do you think of the name Rhett?

Rhett is my son’s middle name but I prefer it for a middle name. I think Garrett or Everett would be better for a first name with the nn Rett/Rhett. GL

Rhett isn’t a personal favorite of mine, but it is a classic which almost always gets a thumbs up from me. That’s a shame about the name Thomas. What if you saved that name for a future girl -- as Tamsin? Tamsin is a variant of Thomasine / Thomasina and your in laws may never figure that out. :0)

Rhett Matthew
Rhett Tobias -- sort of sounds like Thomas
Rhett Jordan
Rhett Daniel
Rhett Oliver
Rhett Stephen
Rhett Morgan -- for full, frontal Welshiness
Rhett Joseph
Rhett Gabriel
Rhett Cormac
Rhett Andrew
Rhett Nicholas
Rhett Samuel
Rhett Tavish -- Scottish form of Thomas
Rhett Bartholomew
Rhett Sequoia / Sequoya(h)
Rhett Hawthorn
Rhett Gavin
Rhett Alexander / Alasdair / Alistair

Good luck! :0)

P.S. Is using Grandpa’s first name an option, or his surname?

Poster 3, it’s funny you mentioned Garrett as that is my husband’s name... ;)

To the last poster, his first name is John.. I don’t know that I like the sound of Rhett John? It seems a bit stiff! But we do love a lot of your suggestions, thanks so much!

I love the name Rhett. I would use another family members name or perhaps a family surname

I would use Garrett John, nn Rhett or Rhett John. Garrison would also be appropriate and awesome! Garrison John or John Garrison!
