wdyt Henley? vs. girl? vs. boy?

We’ve done polls on this before but we need multiple peoples opinions. Wdyt of the name Henley? (hen-lee) We are aware that it is a shirt, but we still love the name. Do you see it more on a girl or a boy? Why? What middle names would you pair with it? What sibling name would you pair with it? We need as much help as possible! Thank you! The name is after our favorite actress, Georgie Henley. We don’t like the names George/Georgia/Georgie etc. thanks!

I see it on a girl, but also see it as an ultra trendy teen momish sounding name that will not be popular in a few years, because it sounds so made up. Maybe in the middle name spot.

Not a fan, sorry. Seems more suited for a dog than a person.

Girl, although I prefer Hailee or Hayley. I see names like Kenzlee, Regan, and Bentley with it.

I agree with other posters, I see it more with a girl. It’s an ok name. Do you like Hadley?
posted by guest :: 9 years ago | report
Not my style, it’s not awful but I think it has the same trendy feel as Paisley or Delainy, I still think if you love it go for it maybe pair it with a classic traditional middle name like Elizabeth.

We do like Hadley! We just don’t have anyone to name it after..& that’s our kind of naming technique. We want all our kids to be named after someone with importance in our lives. We really like Henley Brooke, Henley Charlotte & Henley Elizabeth as well as Eliza Henley.

I love Henley! I think its so cute!

It’s a surname and those are almost always masculine sounding to me. I can make an exception for a girl if it is a family name, but that’s about it for me. Additionally, I don’t usually like names ending in -ley for girls while I do like many such names for boys. I have no idea why that is, but there you have it.

I think Eliza Henley would be great, I’ve never actually meet anyone with the name so it’s different but not weird, but still includes Henley.

I personally do not like double middle names/hyphenated middle names. Stick with Eliza Henley, definitely a winner :)

Thank you so much! We are liking it too. Still love Henley as a first name, but I’m sure it will grow on us as a middle name.

Personally, I think it sounds like a Chinese immigrant saying Henry. There was a book in the 60s by Beverly Cleary where a Chinese man pronounced Prince as "Plince", so that’s probably why I think that. I can’t say I like it, but it’s not the worst name I ever heard.

Since it reminds me of Henry, it seems boyish. Maybe...
