Middle name vs. For Blake

My husband an have always loved Blake, but we both knew rude boys named Blake, so someone suggested it as a girl name, and we loved it! Blake for a girl stays, and we are having a girl, and Blake needs a middle name! Thanks Sarah and Nick.

I personally think Blake Nicole would be pretty, and it would honor your husband Nick’s name.

Having a ’boy’ first name was mildly frustrating and embarassing as a kid. Nothing to ruin a life, but I had wished on paper it was clear. You might consider Blakely, nn Blake. Then she has the option in the future of how feminine or edgy she wants to be in various situations.

Blakely Olivia
Blakely Harper
Blakely Rose
Blakely Jane

I agree with poster #7. My sister has a unisex first name and a unisex middle name and she’s always being mistook for a man and it’s so irritating for her. No offense, but with names like Sarah or Nick, you take this kind of thing for granted.

I’m confused. You didn’t like Blake for a boy because of rude people but you like it for a girl despite rude people? It’s okay to have a rude connotation with your daughter’s name but not your son’s? Or is using Blake for a girl a way to get back at the rude boys by making their names feminine?

Your child might be annoyed at the strong likelihood she will constantly be mistaken for a boy. If you’re okay with that then go for it. My friend gave her daughter a unisex name and regrets it.
