Because Riley and Ryan aren’t the same name. Look, it’s your kid and you and the other parent are the only ones with a right to name it, but I wouldn’t want to be a girl named Ryan. I also wouldn’t want to be a boy in the generation where all of their names are being taken over by girls.

Personally, I don’t approve of using boy names on girls, even if its technically a unisex name that’s just used more on boys. Just the other day, I saw this woman who looked so much like a man that I thought she was one. She had short spikey hair, a somewhat masculine appearance, and just looked like a guy. If her name want Jennifer I might have thought she was one. If her name was Ryan, I definitely would have continued thinking she was one. Girls need girl names. But that’s just IMHO.
