Help vs. with vs. Name spelling?

Hello. I like the name Isla but fear that future substitute teachers will mispronounce her name and she’ll get made fun of for it. Any alternative spellings/ alternative name suggestions that are similar? Thanks a bunch.

I don’t see how anyone can mispronounce Isla. If teachers or whoever can pronounce island then they should be able to pronounce Isla (eye-lah). If not then they will catch on once she’s introduced to others.

It could be confused as Is-lah I guess... maybe Lila would be better?

I know 3 Isla’s and have never heard anybody mispronounce their name.

I think Isla will be mispronounced regardless. Not by everyone but it will happen. Some people use Ayla pronounced eye lah.

Personally I wouldn’t change the spelling, Isla is a Scottish Island and being Scottish myself I don’t like to see scottish names spelt differently.
I suppose it depends where you live, if you are in the UK there will be no trouble, but if you are in US then maybe it will be mispronounced occasionally.

I’ve never heard it mispronounced. Many people have heard of actress Isla Fisher and it isn’t that uncommon a name. I think you’re worrying too much; if people get it wrong they only need to be corrected. Simple.

Substitute teachers mispronounce the simplest of names sweetie, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
