Dioni and Dominy vs. too close?

I’m having gorgeous girls this summer!!! I love Dioni and Dominy (like Dominique without the eek) separately but together they might be too rhymey. So their nicknames will be Di and Minnie perhaps. Or Di and Domi. These names aren’t set in stone but they’re up there. I also like Athena and Aurelia or Ariella. If you’re open to suggesting I don’t care if they’re matchy but no common names please. No Emmas, Stellas, Avas, Chloes. In the middle that’s fine though. And I’ll be back with more polls in the coming months with more ideas. Thanks so much! -Noa and family

Don’t do the rhymey/matchy thing. It is silly and demeaning and by no means a requirement to indicate that your daughters are twins. I’d suggest Dionne & Athena. Dioni is too apt to be mispronounced. Is it DIE oh knee or DEE oh knee or something else like dee OH knee? See what I mean?

Athena and Aurelia/Ariella are beautiful. Dioni and Dominy are not. They are tacky and cheap to be very frank.

I COMPLETELY agree with poster 1 on the matching thing. As a twin myself, that makes me want to vomit all my insides out. Why do people do that?
Dioni (Dione works even better) and Aurelia.
Dominy and Aurelia.
Best Wishes! :)

Dionne is my middle name. dee-AHN is the pronunciation of that. Dioni rhymes with Johnny basically, dee-ahn-ee. My father’s name is Dominic and Dominica is just choppy on my tongue. Dominy was a variation that I liked. For Heaven’s sake you y’all are acting like I’m naming these kids Starlord and Texas Ranger! I just happen to like matchy names for twins but I have other ideas too. I didn’t make these names up. They have meaning, they aren’t "tacky" like Kameryn and whatever the heck else kids are named these days.

I know too many Kiannas so that’s out.
I don’t like Eliora
Zora means [removed] in Spanish
Esme and Evelina aren’t my taste.

I love the other ideas though.

I think they would work better as nicknames. Dionne nn Dioni and Dominique nn Domini. That way if they don’t like matchy they have other alternatives to fall back on.

I think you’re confusing Zora with ’zorra’. The first is pronounced with a Z sound at the beginning and an English r in the middle. The second, which literally means ’female fox’ in Spanish but is also a slang term for ’cheap prostitute’, is prononced with an S sound at the beginning and a trilled R in the middle. Very different pronunciations if you know your Spanish.
