hazel??? vs. weird?

Hubby and I adore the name hazel for our daughter. Hazel grace is beautiful but the movie association bothers me. I can’t decide on a middle name that sounds as good though. Also I’m worried since out last name is walls is naming my child hazel going to sound weird. Like hazel colored walls? Lol you wouldn’t think our last name is hard to match but it’s proving to be.

You could go with something that has the ’ay’ sound in the way Grace does like Paige, Faye, Sage, Maeve, Mae, Jane etc.

Oh no! I also love the name Hazel, but I am so sorry to agree that Hazel Walls is not the best fit. :-(

Growing up I never had an official list of baby names that I liked, but I certainly had some names I had heard that I preferred. Once I got married and started trying to pair them with my new last name, it just about knocked most of them off of the list. I love the name Hazel and I am so sorry I agree that Walls would have knocked it off of my list.
I feel your struggle!!

Second poster again - The more I think about it, I think you should use it! If she gets married and takes her husband’s last name, she could end up with any old crazy last name. Even with your best effort to make Walls fit the perfect first name, it may not end up mattering anyway. Use what you love and Hazel is beautiful!!
