Dustin Carter! First, even though you changed your name to two names(I did as well!) I think that the child shouldn’t have to have it. If he wants that when he’s older, fine. Secondly, if that didn’t persuade you, at least he won’t have to say(or write) a mouthful. You could always put James as his or his future siblings names. James is a nice name, so you could always do Dustin James Carter, or save the James for your next one.

He dosnt have a middle name and wont. Most of the men in mine and husbands family dont have middle names. If we did Carter-James it would be that way not James-Carter. My husband dosnt care as long as it has Carter in it.

He will have to live with that hyphen forever. I have a hyphenated name and it is a pain. I had a lot of airport problems because you can’t hyphenate a flight reservation but your drivers license and passport are hyphenated. Just a pain. And you are subjecting his future wife to that hyphen which does not give her the option to hyphenate her last name like you did. I would stick with one. And I would reconsider giving him a middle name. Dustin James Carter sounds wonderful.
