I actually just said to my husband last night that I wish we’d thought of Margaret called Daisy for our 2 yo. He didn’t like Maggie, or Meg or the more common nicknames, so he wouldn’t agree to Margaret, but he would have with the nickname Daisy!

I have never understood naming a child Margaret, then calling her Daisy... If you were gonna call her Daisy anyway, just name her that.

I would love to name her Daisy. But my husband thinks that she may want a more ’grown-up’ name later in life...
Margaret would solve that problem.
Margaret vs. Julia~ I like Julia better though and there would be no name confusion. Hence my need for outside opinions.

The nn comes from the French version of Margaret. People used to choose from a smaller pool of names, so you’d be more likely to have 10 Margarets or johns or Williams in your town, school, etc, and nicknames were needed for distinction.
I think if you both can agree on Julia, then that’s the way to go. It’s a lovely name!
