Hi, We have two children already with our 3rd on the way. Both of our other kids first names are 4 letters long. Should we go with something with 4 letters again or does it matter? Lily, Milo, and ?? We like Heidi but it’s not 4 letters!

Eh, I don’t really think it matters at all. Finding a name you love is much more important! Plus, look at it this way: Lily, Milo, and Heidi are all 2 syllables, so they match haha

It doesn’t matter. Nobody except you is going to notice how many letters are in each name. Heidi is a nice name. Go for it.

Unless you can find a name you love with 4 letters, I wouldn’t mind.
It’s far more important that the new baby have a name you love than a name you’re ok with ’but it fits’.
Also I don’t think the kids will notice, a family friend is called Oliver and his two older brothers are Benjamin and Barney. He didn’t even notice the almost theme until I pointed it out. The same will be true here, if you introduce Lily, Milo, and Heidi, I don’t look at it and go ’oh, one isn’t 4 letters’, I go ’isn’t that a lovely sibset’.
Finally, if you use 4 letters now and have another, then you’re really stuck, better to break it now.

As it is, I’m not a massive fan of Heidi, how about:
Cleo
Ella
Thea
Ruby
Cora
Iris
Lucy

Chloe
Ivy
Sophie
Stella
Eve/Eva (nn Evie)
Alice
Poppy
Pearl
Clara

Oh, Jesus, this is why themes are so silly! Of course your 3rd child can have 5 letters in her name.
