Cinlee vs. Cynlee vs. Cinleigh

Ok I have done this pole a bunch in the last few days to get clarity on naming our fourth child. And I don’t want any more stress over it. This momna is exhausted. Hubs and I like different names. I like Carlee and he likes caydee. But I have gotten that Caydee is too close to caylee our other daughters name. We both like Kinley and can’t figure out how to spell it with a C. Can some one please help us come up with a spelling and that is def the name we agree on best☺️

Sorry, but no spelling with a "C" is going to give you the pronunciation "Kinley". It will always be pronounced "Sin-lee". You’ll just have to choose the spelling you like best and deal with correcting people ALL THE TIME on spelling and pronunciation. And make her deal with it as well.

"Kinley" would not be my first guess as the pronunciation for any of these spellings. "Sin-lee" is what I think when I see them.

That said, I would go with Cynlee as the prettiest choice.

Carlee is very pretty. :)

I would keep the spelling kinley.

I agree all of these I would pronounce Sin-lee -- Kinley would definitely be best! If you don’t like the spelling I would choose a different name. Otherwise she will just constantly have to correct people on both the pronunciation and spelling which will be extremely annoying!

Carly is pretty! Your spelling though will also just cause unnecessary confusion.

How about Cambrie?

Our other 3 kids start with C’s. That is why we want a 4th C. Sorry I should have mentioned that. 😉

Then I think you need to find a different name. Spelling Kinley with a "C" is just going to cause you and her endless headaches because it defies the laws of the English language. Carly is great. There are plenty of other "C" names out there that are great too. Keep looking.

I agree with the last poster - you will need to keep looking, Kinley with a C just does not work. Sorry! Carly or Cambrie are great!!

Like everyone else, I was pronouncing the name as Sin-leeou want can be spelled. I don’t think the pronunciation you want can be spelled with a C.

Any of those spellings will get you Sin lee. It looks like the name Cindy and that is how it will be pronounced every single time. When people say Sin lee and it is corrected to Kinley, they will look at you weird, it is a "huh?" A lot of correcting will be going on forever. Choose a name and spelling wisely, not unique or cutesy.

I don’t think Cinlee is going to work. So, here are some suggestions.
Similar names ending with -ee sound:
Clemency
Chloe
Crawley
Cassie
Calliope

Other C starting names:
Cristina
Clara
Cosette
Cillian
Cleo
Calla
Clover

And this is why naming themes are a bad idea. And just want to say if you did this "pole", you’re a dancer not someone asking a group of people a question. That’s "poll". As others have said, if you must have a name that starts with C, it shouldn’t be one you’ve listed here.

How about Candace? Possible nickname is Candy.

Candee (short for Candice) fits with Caylee.

What about Chanley?

Cassidy was very nice from the names you’ve listed before! Cinlee/Cynlee/Cinleigh will always be pronounced as Sin-lee. Candee/Candie or Cassie would be very cute with Caylee, Carter and Cooper. What do you think of Casey/Caycee/Casie?

Don’t listen to people who don’t like name themes, the theme here isn’t the issue it’s that your husband only likes certain names and you like others which is normal.

My husband suggested Ckenlee letting the C be silent and the K picking up the hard C sound. What are yalls thoughts??
posted by guest :: 9 years ago | report
Ckynlee
posted by guest :: 9 years ago | report
He is saying like back the " ck" makes the k sounds. So putting that at the front of the name will give off the k sound for Ckynlee or Ckinley.
