Love Claire, but hate Poppy...sorry...all I think of is kids on the playground calling her Poopy. If you want her to go through that, go for it. I just wouldn’t put my kid through that. I do think Lucy Claire or Adeline Claire would be gorgeous, though. Sorry if I sounded harsh...wan’t trying to be...just trying to be honest. Good luck.

Poopy Newstead is all I think of, too. Sorry to burst your bubble. Please think about the torture and teasing your daughter will endure everyday!

Love Poppy-very British, very now.
I suppose some kids will call her poopy, but that shouldn’t last past 3rd grade, right?!
I went with Poppy Adeline, but the other two are lovely as well.
I do agree that Lucy and Adeline are gorgeous fns, but I think Poppy is great.

I wouldn’t put my child through one second of teasing, let alone 4 years (kinder-3rd)...would you? Jeesh...

Poll Maker: If you really love the name, go for it, but if it is just a name you are considering, don’t be selfish...think about your daughter...she will have to live with the name, and the teasing, not you...

I just have to say that I am disappointed that people would think I’m being selfish by giving my child a beautiful name. My husband and I both love the name and are just debating the mn. I feel that if you are prepared for names that you’re child could be called and prepare your child than it will be okay. There are a lot of other commonly used names that could be made fun of (Cooper...). I don’t think there is any name that is devoid of any potential teasing.

I love the name Poppy. I am also a teacher. There was a kid I knew named Will Nichols. Perfectly benign name right? Kids called him "Dill Pickles" My point is, kids may make fun of someone for ANYTHING. Knew a kid named Soda Pop. No kidding that was his name. No one teased him. NO ONE. Poppy is a beautiful flower and a beautiful name. Spunky. If you love it, your daughter will too. I think it’s great!

I think actress Poppy Montgomery did very well for herself as well as Poppy Harlow on CNN. I vote for Poppy Claire. Adorable on a child, teen, woman and an elderly woman.
