I like Monica Larke (still call her Larke, but I think it flows better that way)

I also like Larke Marie!

Wow Rebecca, no need to be snarky.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
I don’t call any of my other daughters by their middle name, so clearly Monica Larke wouldn’t work, seeing as I’d like her name to be Larke. ~Rebecca
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Oh, I’m sorry.

I just have Larke on my list also and Olivia is one of the middle names I’ve considered for it, so that combo comes mind rather quickly.

Unclear why you’re asking for input here when you’re so rude about the suggestions that have been offered. Also unclear how you can possibly have patience for 5 children...
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
It is not too much to ask that a person read everything I wrote before giving suggestions. It’s not a difficult thing. ~Rebecca
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Just because you don’t call your other children by their middle name doesn’t mean you can’t do it for this one. I am called by my middle name and my two sisters are called by their first! I just made a suggestion, which clearly you don’t want!

I’m asking for MIDDLE NAME suggestions for LARKE. Turning Larke into a middle name is not what I’m asking for, and I’m clearly not going to give two of my children the same middle name. If people actually did that, there would be absolutely no problem. Notice I had nothing against all of Ariel’s other name suggestions. Keep Larke as the first name and don’t use Ainsley, Olivia, Cagney, Belle, Jemma, Alison, Marin or Jessica and everything will be fine. ~Rebecca

I really hope its just the pregnancy hormones making you so rude, I would feel sorry for your children (and others in your life) if you are always this mean when a people are offering you advice that you asked for.

As for my style, since Larke isn’t too common, a relatively common middle name would be nice. And to me, if you’re going to call someone by their middle name, it might as well be your first name. It makes absolutely no sense to call someone by their middle name. ~Rebecca
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
I actually skimmed your post, I just prefer actually suggesting names then reading them. I suppose it didn’t register that your daughter’s middle name was Olivia. To be honest, I thought your daughter’s had very nice names, and that Larke Olivia would be equally lovely.

However, you really don’t have to be so rude. You stated that it wasn’t to much to ask for someone to read your whole post. Is it too much to ask people to be friendly and nice on this site?

However, back to the topic of this poll. Have any middle names stood out for you?

My name is Elisa Paige and I go by Paige, I am thankful that it turned out that way, I think it flows better Elisa Paige and since Elisa is my mothers name, I am glad to be called Paige. My great grandmother was called by her middle name as well as my grandmother and my father. Just because it isn’t your taste, you shouldn’t be so quick to judge others.

For fear of getting my head bitten off since you didn’t ask for first name suggestions, have you by chance considered the first name Larkin? Just asking since all of your other kids have 2-syllable first names, and you might have an easier time finding middle names that flow (and you could still call her Lark/Larke as a nn).

Just a thought, ignore at will.

I think the intention of this poll is being clouded by people trying to prove their point and wanting to be right. Rebecca’s baby is more important than any of that. SHE"S BRINGING A PRECIOUS BABY INTO THE WORLD! Let’s forget all the defensive, unkind comments...life is way too short to treat people that way. Sorry for the sermon, but all this had gotten out of hand.

I just have an unrelated question- I really like the name Gemma (Jemma). What kind of reception does that name tend to get? I know it’s my choice, but my mom thought I meant Emma, and said she’d have to think about it when I corrected her. She’s never heard it before. Just wanted to see if I’d have to explain it to everyone. Thanks for your help.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Gemma is really popular in England. I personally don’t care for it because it is bound to be mistaken for Emma...again, and Jenna, and GERM. Larke Anna sounds funny. What about Larke Priscilla?

My question was actually directed to Rebecca, who has a child named Jemma. Sorry I didn’t make that clear. Anyone else with a child with that name would probably have good imput also. Otherwise, I’m not sure you’re comment helps. I do like Larke by the way. Not sure about what middle name I like best.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Rebecca is the UGLIEST name ever! How does that make you feel? That is my real opinion. There is a nice way to tell someone you don’t like a name. Get over yourself.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
I love the name Rebecca but seriously you have got some anger issues women, asking for advise and then not appreciating it. Go fall in hole.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
BTW Larke is quite possibly the worst name ever, Priscilla is very nice, you have terrible taste
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Ugly person, at any rate. Although my hunch is that this poll was posted by a bored teenager. Because God help her kids if she’s really a mother.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
Priscilla is a lovely name. I would know this. I’ve been a naming professional for I don’t know, 10 years now? Gosh woman, take a chill pill. Larke is one of the strangest names I’ve come across in my career, and I agree, your taste in names is horrible. When people create a poll, they are asking for all honest opinions, feedback and suggestions. Would you rather us just ignore your cry for help? You certainly have a reason to, by the way. And that’s what Baby Name Genie users do, ignore FAKE polls! Some fake polls aren’t that obvious. This is probably one of them.
posted by guest :: 15 years ago | report
...HAHAHAHA. A naming professional? Well there’s something to be proud of. And FYI, just because you personally like the name Priscilla doesn’t mean it’s one of the greatest names in the world. Some people think it’s ugly, like myself. You can think that I have horrible taste all you want, but it’s not fact. Just like I can and do think you have horrible taste because you like Priscilla. It’s not fact, but it’s what I think.

Let me get a few things straight. When I made this poll, I was asking for middle names for Larke. I don’t care whether you love that name or hate it. That doesn’t influence whether I choose that name or not one bit. If you don’t like the name, don’t comment. It’s that simple. I was NOT asking for opinions on Larke, I was NOT asking for feedback. I was asking for MIDDLE NAME SUGGESTIONS, something most of you can’t seem to get through your head.

Regarding the woman who wanted to know how Jemma is accepted in the U.S., she’s only 4, and the kids in her pre-school class don’t know it’s "unusual" or whatever you want to call it. I say if you like the name, use it.

To the person who says they hate the name Rebecca...good for you? I didn’t give myself this name, so it’s not like you’re insulting me. It’s not a name I particularly care for either. So I guess all there is to say is thanks for sharing?

If calling me a bad mother or saying that I’m ugly or insulting me makes you feel better, then more power to you. Insult away. But all you’re doing for me is providing amusement.

And one more thing. To the person who said go fall in a hole, no thank you. :) ~Rebecca

Even though this is an old post, I am amazed at how rude this Rebecca was and despite that everyone still kept trying to help her. If it was me, I would have said "Screw it. Find your own name." That nasty attitude was unnecessary. And I love how she attempted to cast the blame on everyone else, calling their comments immature and all the while making smart-aleck remarks. LOL I hope her children don’t take after her, and I certainly feel sorry for her husband!

Dude. I just got 10 minutes of entertainment from reading this post, and I am also quite saddened by the immaturity, disrespect, and rudeness. I am happy for you, certainly, Rebecca in your daughter’s birth; though I suspect this post was completely fake and created by a teenager. The low life of the poster and the commenters. I’m ashamed at this point.

My name is Larke. I have loved it my entire life. When I was poked fun at.. the worst it for was "hark a lark flying in the park"... Which was no big deal. Not that you would still be looking for a name two years later...but my middle name is Essex...Which is a family name. Glad you stuck to your guns Rebecca bc I have enjoyed my name for the last 35 years and will continue for the next 35 years. Xoxo

I can’t believe I met another Larke! Wow! My mother would be so mad, she wanted my name to be the only one in the world. My mother insisted on Larke, (my dad picked Ellise, but he settled for a middle name), and I love it. It’s just a bit more feminine than Lark already is. My mother used to always call me – “My Lovely Larke”. It’s quite funny, because I loved to sing and I still do. My husband and I are expecting a girl in October. What do you all think about the name Leanora? (My grandmother (Eleanora), who I was very close to, died last year, so I wanted to pay homage to her. I’m also open to suggestions for middle names.
