Winsor Elizabeth vs. Wilder Emmett

Hi - we’re pregnant with g/b twins and love the set Winsor and Wilder (girl and boy). We know they’re androgynous and not super traditional but we love them. What do you think? They join older sister Whitley. Thanks! -Victoria

I prefer Winslet to Winsor. I’m also not a fan of all the W’s but that’s simply because I really dislike matching letters for siblings. They’re not horrible names, however I do think that they could cause some problems for the twins when they get into school and having people mix them up (or thinking they’re both boys)

Windsor is part of the official last name of the royal family, so having Victoria, Elizabeth, and Winsor is too much for me. Winslet, Winnona, Winnifred, or Winter would all be better while keeping the same sound. Inalso like Wisteria and Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina Elizabeth followed by Winter Elizabeth would get my vote.

I agree that Winsor sounds a bit too pretentious. IMHO, it’s best to give twins names that don’t sound alike or start with the same letter. It might be cute when they’re little but they don’t stay little for long. When they get older, they’ll really dislike it as they struggle to establish their own identity (while everybody else refers to them as a pair).

Twins can have a hard time with people treating them like an inseparable unit. Imagine going through life being known as "the twins" You don’t want to make that worse.

Winsor isn’t so bad. It’s not something I would use, but it’s not horrible. Elizabeth goes well with it and it makes it sound very regal.

I don’t at all like Wilder. It just makes me think the child is really badly behaved. Emmett is cute, though.
