Help vs. Please

My husband and I are expecting our second daughter/fourth child. Bonnie has been our 2nd favorite girl name (we used our number one favorite with our first daughter) and we knew if we were to have another girl Bonnie would be her name. Problem is, my sister and her husband got a new rabbit and named her Bonnie. We’ve never told anyone our favorite names, so they had no clue we would be using the name Bonnie but we do not want a family pet having the same name as our child. We love the name Bonnie a lot and would very much like to use it for our daughter. How should we go to my sister and her husband about the situation? We’re hoping they change their rabbit’s name. Thank you.

It depends on where you sister lives. If she lives nearby, then don’t use Bonnie (or use it as a middle name). If she lives several time zones away and you only see her once a year or less, use Bonnie for your daughter.

Rabbits don’t live that long and aren’t as part of the family as a dog or cat are. I would still use Bonnie even if your sister doesn’t change the name. Be positive at least you know your sister will already love the name of her niece!

My sister had a dog named Beau. I have always loved that name for a male. When I had a boy, I named him Beau. People and their names last far longer and mean much more than pet names. It may seem strange at first, but time will pass. Use the name you love. Down the road there will be no bunny.

Forget time zones and peg names!!! Naming a child something you love is far more important than what ppl may think about their pet with the same name.

If we were talking about a Rex or a Spot, no way. But Bonnie is a classic established human name. Use it!

How long do rabbits live?? We’re talking about your child here... If you love the name Bonnie then you better use it!!
