Opinions vs. On vs. Sophie

Did this a little earlier but didn’t get much response. Could I have some opinions on the name Sophie? Yes, I know it’s very popular, but I don’t care, and would rather if people commented on other things. I just want to know what everyone thinks about Sophie. Like wdyt about how it sounds, looks, feels, and the meaning, or what kind of girl you picture. Thanks so much! :)

I like the literary association with Roald Dahl and the BFG. It’s a very simple and beautiful name.

I like SOPHIE!!!! I do prefer that it officially be Sophia with the nn Sophie. That way she can chose when she’s older which name she’d like to use. I see a Sophie as a kind sweet girl and a GIRL (as opposed to a tomboy).

I love Sophie! If only my husband liked it..... 😔. It’s sweet and much more appealing than Sophia. I do picture a sweet little girl when I picture it, but I think it definitely works for an adult as well. 😊 GL!

I like Sophie better than Sophia. I think it’s hard to picture a Sophie now just because it’s multicultural and it’s popularity means you may know a nice one and you may know an unpleasant one. Now this may not be a bad thing. Multicultural is nice because people won’t look at you funny for giving your child a name that is commonly associated with a culture or nationality that your child is not a part of (unfortunately, this does happen). Also, with so many types of girls and women out there with this name, it isn’t just associated with a particular type of person, so she has less of a chance of being prejudged (like in my time, Britney’s/Brittany’s were associated with being airheads).

I’m personally not a fan of Sophie. There is nothing particularly wrong with it, I just don’t find the sound attractive.

I love the name Sophie!
It’s so sweet but yet it’s spunky too.
For some reason I picture a Sophie to be a pretty blonde with "girl-next-door" appeal which is a bit odd since the names are so close but yet I picture a Sophia to be an exotic beauty with really dark hair.
Anyway,I think Sophie is a lovely choice!

I’ve never understood the appeal personally, and I don’t see it aging very well. But if you love it then that is what matters! Good luck

Sophie looks better than Sofie to me so, good job! :-) Sophie sounds elegant, sophisticated and strong on an adult, cute on a baby. Sophie looks more substantial than Sofie to me and bolder for such a feminine name. It means wisdom or wise. Never heard anything negative except that it’s popular BUT names like this can easily have nicknames so if there are three in the same class, they can be Sophie, Sophe, and Sophie Grace, or whatever the middle name is...better than always having your last name called
