Magdalene Claire vs. Yes vs. No

I have been posting and scrolling a lot in the past weeks looking for a name that I could fall in love with and to go well with Claire and I believe I have finally found it. One problem. Hubby hates Magdalene but loves Maggie.. He wants something cute and "fun" while I want something elegant and beautiful. Is this a perfect compromise or should we look farther? Also in need of spellings on Magdalene. Thanks so much! -Hopeful Haden

I am with husband. Maggie Claire. Not fond of Magdalene at all. Doesn’t sound elegant or beautiful.

How about a different name with the nickname Maggie?

Magdalena Claire
Magnolia Claire
Margaret Claire
Margery Claire
Marguerite Claire

Magdalene is gorgeous! However Magdalene Haden not so much. Magdalena? Keep Magdalene spelling the same.

Other options:

Margaret
Megan/Meagan
Magnolia
Martha

Magdalene is gorgeous and quite a cultured name. It is way more respectable than Maggie. Leave Maggie as a nickname as it is eternally cutesy, which dare I say, isn’t cute for a grown woman. Please do not butcher the spelling. Leave it traditional with class.

Magnolia is another option. GL

Not sure what the fourth poster is talking about, but Magdalena isn’t a misspelling of Magdalene...it’s a real name. You can Google it if you want. Personally though, I really like Magnolia if you want something elegant and beautiful. Margaret is nice, but there are so many other nicknames for it that odds are she would go by a nn other than Maggie, like Maisie, Mae, Meg, Margot, Greta, Etta, etc.

I think an even better compromise would be Magdalena Claire. While I think Magdalene meets your wants of a "beautiful, elegant" name, it is also sounds very classic and grown and not quite "cute and fun". I think adding the -a and turning it into Magdalena gives it the fresher, younger feel that your husband prefers.
