No, River is not a bad name. I like it.

I think River is a very nice name for a boy. People who feel that once a girl has been named something, it is no longer suitable for a boy, might not like it. But, oh well. No name will please everyone. Good luck! :)

As a name its only okay, it’s also pretty trendy, the fact is it isn’t a traditional name at all, but part of the common noun as name fad, and lots of folks like names that have survived the test of time to the latest trend

It’s okay, just way too common for my taste but it’s not a bad name. If you love it then who cares what other people say even if those people are family. It’s your child name him what you want. River is a nice name.

It’s not my taste but a lot of people must like it considering it’s very popular! If you love it, don’t worry what your family says, go for it!

River is a terrible idea for a boy! There is nothing wrong with sticking to the traditional names when it comes to naming your children. I’m sorry, but you have to think about the future, the fact is River is not an appropriate name for a child, unless your fictional

Use whatever name you love! If you prefer more "modern" names and don’t really care for traditional names then so what. Everyone likes a certain style. There is nothing wrong with River. I know a couple adults with the name and a few kids with the name. It suits all ages! Again, there is nothing wrong with it!

I wanted to name my son this but my husband wouldn’t let me. It sounds cool for now but what about when he grows up. After college. My husband said also river Phoenix comes to mind. Well. I know he doesn’t own a name. Just like unisex names aren’t just for girls. Boys can be Riley. Or Ashley. But.

River is awesome! It one of the top boy names on our list too. There’s nothing wrong with the name and it’s not uncommon on kids in this generation.

And it has been in the top 1000 names in the US since 1994. So while it hasn’t been around for hundreds of years, it’s not something that’s unknown.

My family had this sort of reaction to my second child’s name. It mostly just took them a while to get used to the idea because it was an obscure Irish name that they’d never considered. But they haven’t had any problem with it once they digested the fact that it would be their grandchild/nephew’s name. I’m sure it will be the same with your family.

River is fine.

It’s not going to hurt him as an adult to be named River. There are a fair number of little boys named River in his generation and the popularity of the name is on an uphill climb. Having the name River when he’s an adult will be the same as having the name Daryl for a person born in 1985. Both names came out of nowhere and got fairly popular.
