Asher William vs. Asher James William vs. Asher William James

My husband and and I are expecting our 3rd and (probably) last child & first boy and we have settled on Asher but are torn on middle names. My husband absolutely wants to use William after his grandfather who basically raised him and I’m am totally okay with that but I’d always liked to be able to use James after my dad but not to the point where I’d be mad if I couldn’t so we are thinking of giving him two middle names but aren’t sure since our daughters’ only have one. Is having one child with two middle names weird when the others don’t?

I don’t think it’s weird if the two middle names honor someone. Asher William James got my vote.

I know two families where the youngest has two middle names and the older ones don’t. It hasn’t seemed to be any problem with any of them.

I think Asher William James flows best.

How about just James William or William James, those are both great names. You could have nn’s Jamie or Liam among others. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with two middle names though it makes filling out forms etc a bit of a problem but no big deal.

My youngest daughter has two middle names and her older siblings have one. We thought she would be our last child and gave her two middle names to be able to honor two family members. It hasn’t caused any issues with the older ones. We’re probably going to give this next baby two middles as well because a couple of significant people in our family have passed on and we want to honor them.

I have a friend with over 5 kids and only one has a double middle name. It’s fine.
