Brynn Grace vs. Eden Grace vs. Hazel Grace
Hello, we are trying to choose a baby girl name. I haven’t read the book or seen the movie "The Fault in our stars" but when I mention Hazel Grace, they ask if that’s where I got the name from, do you think that would make her name too trendy? I love Brynn but finding a middle name is difficult!! And finally, is Eden too much of an unfamiliar name?

"The Fault In Our Stars" will definitely be mentioned to her quite often with the name Hazel Grace when people find out her middle name especially since there is a movie based off of the book now too. It wouldn’t make it trendy, it would just look like you named your daughter after a movie/book character. Eden isn’t really all that unfamiliar, it’s actually been gaining popularity lately although I’m not a fan of it. My vote goes to Brynn Grace, even though it doesn’t flow all that well. Brynn Elise would be very pretty! Or maybe Brynn Cassandra or Brynn Marie?

The book was a thing for a while but it’s not everywhere like it was. I don’t think most people will consider the book when hearing your daughter’s name. My daughter’s name is Hazel and I’ve only had one person, a 14 year old, mention the book in regard to her name. Though my daughter was named before the book came out and her middle name isn’t Grace.
Hazel was trending upward before the book, though the book pushed it upward some. It’s at #104 as of 2014 and will probably be in the top 100 when the 2015 numbers come out. That’s known but not extremely popular and it’s a good place for child’s birth year popularity numbers to be. My son’s name was at #95 when he was born and he only occasionally runs into someone his age with his name while at the same time it’s a name everybody knows and can spell.
So my vote goes to Hazel.

If you love Brynn, then use it but find a middle name other than Grace. I personally am not a fan of Eden or Hazel but I actually really like Brynn! It is a lot less common and so pretty and she will definitely not meet any other girls who share her name. With Eden and Hazel’s rising popularities, she will likely meet a couple others.
