Quinn vs. ?

Hi all, I’ve got a dilemma. I have 3 girls from my first marriage, Sarah, Emily and Danielle. I’m pregnant again with a girl, which will be our first together. My husband really likes the name Quinn, but I feel like people will think I just really wanted a boy and so gave this girl a boys name. Especially with Sarah, Emily and Danielle being so girly, I feel like Quinn would stick out. My husband wants it to be unique. I think maybe it’s too unique? Please give me your opinions on the matter. Thanks!~A

I think it will stand out as being a different style, but I don’t think it will suggest that you wanted a boy instead. I’ve seen Quinn as often for a girl as for a boy on this site, for what that’s worth.

It is very boyish compared to the the other girls names. Either way it sounds like you dislike it, so I would keep looking.

Yeah, does kind of sound like that. My cousin is named Brooklyn (quite literally named after the city) but everyone thought my uncle just really wanted a boy after Kayla and Julie. Not so much anymore with the popularity of the name, but it wasn’t popular back then and nobody thought of it as a girls name.

What about Lynn? It’s almost the same, but it would be girly enough to match the other girls’ names. Or Anne or Erin or Seren or Carlin or Megan or Kristen or Jan? They all have the same kind of sound, but nobody could accuse you of wanting a boy instead...

If it were me, I’d find a different name. But if it were me, I’d never consider a boys name to begin with. But that’s me. And that’s my style.
