Maren vs. Marin
Which spelling do you prefer? I originally preferred "Marin," because John Marin is one of my favorite artists, but I am now considering "Maren" because I love the meaning behind "ren," the Confucian virtue of humaneness, goodness, and love. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I would go with Maren...I know a lot of people with the last name Marin that are Hispanic. Unless you don’t mind that

I know a Maren, she’s a doctor, but when I think about it it’s just Karen with an M. I like Marin much more. Marin has that California dreamin’ feel (it’s a city).

Marin Alsop is the (female) conductor of the Baltimore Symphony. That’s my only connection with the name. I didn’t know Maren existed.
