I think Gemma is a nice name and if you like it then you should use it. It’s your child.

It’s gorgeous! She’s your baby, not their’s! Gemma really isn’t that unusual, it’s only one letter off from Emma, which is one of the most common names. Gemma Lauren, Gemma Estelle, Gemma Caroline, or Gemma Charlotte would be lovely.

Gemma is darling, and your family will love her no matter what her name is! I say use Gemma, and your family can get over it if they don’t like it. Gemma Claire would be gorgeous. GL!

Thank you, Thank you and Thank you! I think Gemma is pretty too! My first 3 kids I wasn’t so sensitive about the names, but I think it was b/c even if I could tell they didn’t like it (which was fine) they didn’t tell me they hated it, think I was joking, tell me (supposedly jokingly) that I had to run names by them, etc. Anyway, I like Gemma Claire but it rhymes with our last name and Lauren is the daughter of the one who doesn’t seem to think we’re serious about our choices!

I love Gemma. Gorgeous. I am not telling anyone my names... to avoid that. Thus my posting here to get an outside opinion I don’t have to listen to everytime i talk to my mother. :D. gl. go with what you want

Sorry, but I really don’t care for it. I don’t like the way it sounds. I prefer Jenna, Jenna Claire is really pretty imo.

I like Gemma very much. Don’t tell your family what you’re going to name her. It’s your surprise, and once you’ve had her and named her, they’ll be too busy falling in love with her darling little self to be fussing about her name.
These days when everyone knows the sex of the baby in advance, and often the exact day it’s going to be born and even what the baby looks like, there should be something that mama gets to keep to herself. Don’t tell the name!

I wish I hadn’t told people my name choices, but when people ask I have a hard time not telling them. I don’t expect everyone to love the same things, and that’s fine, I just think it’s wierd that all of a sudden on the 4th kid I feel so stressed about it! If people don’t like it, that’s fine but I don’t think my aunt needs to say "I’ll love her but I’ll hate her name" (it wasn’t Gemma) At least not to my face! She can just tell me it’s not her favorite, or do the classic oh..., or support my choice even if it wouldn’t be hers. Anyway, it’s too late for me, but not telling family and friends isn’t a bad idea!
