how to vs. choose vs. name
I’m just curious - While you are pregnant what do you call the baby? Does anyone incorporate that pet name into the final name choice? Do you choose names based on family names, the way they sound to you, or for meaning. I’m just interested in how people choose the names they do... If you want to share I’d love to hear... thanks!

My uncle and aunt are pregnant right now and they were calling the baby J.D. for John Doe, and they decided to nick name the baby J.D. for when he is born, they know the middle name will be Dana after my grandfather and they are almost set on a J name.

Generally we just referred to the baby as "baby". However, when I was pregnant with my third daughters, my older daughters wanted to name her "Happy Orange" so we would sometimes call her that. She’s three now and I still sometimes call her "Happy Orange".
For all 4 of our children, we chose names that had a spiritual meaning that is important to us.

When I was pregnant with my middle daughter George W. Bush was running for president. Since I come from a highly republican family we called her dubbya - it was funny but it never stuck...

When I was pregnant with my twins, I heard the name Audrina on the TV and loved it. I got her middle name, Marie, from my grandmother who passed away three days before they were born. My other twin daughter, Abigail, came from my aunty Gail who got cancer and we wnated to name her Gail incase she didn’t make it but Gail seemed dated. Then someone on the forum suggested Abigail and I loved it. Her middle name, Mary, comes from my ex partners late grandmother.

I just call the baby something that incortperates what I’ve been doing while I was pregnant with them! My first daughter, we called her Cherry because I went tanning alot with her. My first son, Ratso because he was small he could be a rat!

we did not know what we were having and didn’t want to know, so we kept calling "it" baby, and thought about naming her Francis and calling her Baby but it didn’t happen, less than 9 hours before we went to have her we picked out a name for a boy or girl. I still don’t feel strongly for the name, i guess because I could never find one i liked.... :/
