Lhotse Abigail vs. Abigail Lhotse

Sorry this is long but it’s hard to explain. Hi, my name is Kate and I am having a baby girl. I was set on the name Abigail for a girl from day one. My sister Clara and I have always been incredibly close even though she is 11 years younger than me. Three months after finding out I was pregnant, Clara passed away from a rare form of childhood cancer. She was only 14. Before she passed away, we discussed baby names and Clara was in love with the name Lhotse (Lote See) for a girl. Everyday she would ask me if I had given it any thought and I would say that I had but I was not convinced it was the right name. Now that Clara is with the Angels I want to honor her by naming my daughter Lhotse Abigail or Abigail Lhotse. What are your thoughts? Sorry it’s so long. Thank you for taking the time to read it and hopefully you can help me decide a name for my baby girl.

I like it, I think Lhotse is better than Clara because Lhotse is a name she loved while Clara was given to her. I don’t get the dislike. I don’t believe in God but I hope you meet your sister again someday.

I think using the name is a lovely way to honour your sister, however it should definitely be the middle name. I might also spell it differently e.g. Lotsie, but that’s up to you.

I like the sound of Lhotse. I’m also not a big fan of Abigail, plus middle names rarely gets used. Therefore, I’d suggest using the name your sister loved as the first name, unless you really don’t like it yourself. I don’t think it matters much that it’s a rare name - it’s not weird to have an unusual name anymore.

I like the name but not the spelling. I like it spelled Lotsie. It’s unique but it has a beautiful sound.
