Reilly Jamison vs. Reilly Garnett vs. Jamison Reilly

Can’t sleep, feeling sick...trying to take my mind off the sore throat :) I am expecting a boy in February and already have Ryan Mackenzie who is 2. I originally wanted to use Reilly as Ryan’s name, but was talked out of it. Reilly is still my favorite boy name, and I would like to use it or include it. I understand they will be VERY close for brothers when young, but recognize that they will be grown-ups longer than little boys... I REALLY want to use it but I debate every day whether or not it would be acceptable to have Ryan and Reilly for siblings... Jamison is a name I also kind of like, and Garnett (Gar-NET) is a family name....... thankyou, Sarah

Thankyou :) And Ryan is very excited to have another brother, but he’s also getting a bit ’jealous’, in the idea of having to share the attention!

Go with Reilly Jamison and if its too close you can call him R.J. or Jamie. It’s not that big a deal. I love Reilly for a boy its a great name. I don’t like it for a girl at all. Good luck.

No offense but I don’t like Reilly for a boy. I think it sounds girly. I know several female Rileys.

Ryan and Reilly sound too close with the beginning Rye sound.

Reilly Jamison is a great name for a boy. To me, it’s not too close to Ryan.

I vote for Reilly Garnett. I do not think Reilly and Ryan are too similar sounding. These are very distinct, good names. Feel better and good luck.

I wouldn’t do it... if Ryan gets jealous about sharing his time he’d probably also be upset about sharing his NAME... if you call him "ry"..

Maybe you could let your son help with picking out a first name so that he feels a part of things. If he has a voice, maybe he won’t feel jealous. Use Reilly as a middle name. Or maybe give him a double name or something and call him by both. Like:
John Reilly Woods (call him John Reilly)
John-Reilly Garnett Woods (John-Reilly)
Jack Reilly Woods (call him Jack Reilly)
Jack-Reilly Garnett Woods (Jack-Reilly)

What do you think???

I think it is okay to have Ryan and Riley. I personally think spelling it Reilly looks more feminine than Riley. Reilly Garnett definitely looks like a girls name to me. I like Riley Jamison. Don’t let others talk you out of a name you love though!

I don’t think Reilly looks feminine at all. Reilly reminds me of O’Reilly’s auto parts very Irisha and not so trendy as the girly spelling. I would go with Reilly its all boy.
