What are the names? Have you talked to your husband about this? It’s a shame you couldn’t come up with a better compromise.

Well, it would have been better if you could have agreed before, but you can’t always predict what nicknames people will use. Just try to ask them to use her full name. To be fair, I think you should make a list of names that YOU like, but let him have a voice on which name. You will be calling her that for the rest of your lives, so you should both agree.

If dh says it is your choice then why would it be wrong to use the old names? He knows what they were right? If you’re worried about it try a compromise on a name you like- let him pick the middle name, the spelling, the nn, or mix it up a bit. If you don’t like the nn your other one is using, if you and your husband and your daughter use her full name, then others would probably follow suit. Or tell them what you prefer. I remember when my cousin decided she didn’t want to be called Missy anymore and went to Melissa. My husband only goes by Anthony. If someone calls him Tony we know they are a telemarketer!

There is no reason NOT to use one of the names you considered last time. When I was pregnant with fraternal twins, dh and I picked out 2 girl names and 2 boy names. We ended up having one of each, so when I had my second daughter, I gave her the name I would have used had both twins been girls. If I ever have another son, I will use the other boy name we had picked out. These are names my dh and I loved, so there is no need to think of anymore. Since you and your dh can’t agree, I would pick the name you love the best, explain to your hubby why you love it, and then see if it grows on him. I presume you love your children no matter what their names are, so I predict your hubby will love this child no matter what name you give him/her. Good luck!
