Chloe Elizabeth vs. Catherine Elizabeth vs. Melanie Elizabeth

I am having a hard time deciding between these three names. I love them all but for different reasons. I think Chloe is cute but it may not age as well. I love Catherine because it is timeless but is it also boring. And Melanie is soft and feminine. Elizabeth is a MUST (DH family name). I am open to other ideas of soft, feminine names. We have a 3 syllable last name. Thank you!!!

I think a classic, beautiful name like Catherine could never be boring! I voted for Catherine Elizabeth. I also like Claire Elizabeth, Brooke Elizabeth, and Sarah Elizabeth. Good luck!

My name is Melanie and it’s kind of a neutral name. Not great or cool or pretty, but not bad either. Catherine has more possibilities Cate (which I love), Cathy, etc. I love Chloe and think it would age fine. Chloe Seveigny (no idea how to spell it) for instance is an actress in her 20’s or 30’s. Recently I figured out Lanie would be a cute nn for Melanie, but don’t feel like going through the rigeramole of telling everyone I have a new nn at 36! Mel is short, but not a cute, nn that most people use.

I also got called Smelly Melly, but from my friends in H.S. so I didn’t take offense. It could come up from mean kids earlier though.

I picked Chloe because I think you need a shorter first name with a long middle name. Catherine Elizabeth is very long. I also like Brooke Elizabeth a lot.

Yeah my best friend is ’Melissa’ and her nn is Mel... not so exciting. That was one concern with Melanie. Lanie is super cute though... you should just start signing emails Lanie. It will catch on even at 36. If you see this, let me know if as a Melanie all your life would you have rather been a Chloe or Catherine? Thank you!

Chloe Elizabeth is beautiful-----wouldn’t worry about it not aging well. It will!

I like Chloe Elizabeth but I am not sure what kind of nn Chloe will lend itself too besides Chlo which I am not excited about. GL!!

I love Catherine Elizabeth because she will stand above the rest: Ryleigh, Tyleigh, Saywer..etc. I like Melanie and Chloe (which I think will not age well) just my opinion. Good Luck.

I love the name Melanie and I think the nn Mellie is very cute. I really don’t think Chloe will age well, and I don’t find it nearly as pretty as Melanie. It is also way WAY more common right now, so the posibility is high she would be Chloe #2 or 3 in her class. I find Catherine really boring, as well as Kate and Cathey. Cat is ok but the fn is just so common that I personally don’t care for it. I prefer it spelled Katharine if you use it. GL!!

Chloe might have been more exciting than Melanie, but I didn’t appreciate Catherine until recently. At the time I probably would have liked to have been named Crystal- it was the 80’s! As far as Chloe being too popular- there are a lot of Melanies and Catherines out there too, so I wouldn’t worry about that. Melanie isn’t a bad name, just neutral in my opinion!

I love Melanie - it is sweet and sophisticated and will age well. Chloe is also very popular now, and Catherine is old. Melanie Elizabeth is beautiful - GL

I wouldn’t worry about "Chlo", Chloe doesn’t need a nickname, it is short enough. Zoe is close but not as popular, although imo it sounds more trendy and I love the classiness of Chloe! I think any of your 3 choices would be fine.

I’m glad dh is insisting on Elizabeth. Probably 90% of Melanie’s I’ve met are named Melanie Ann! She could also go by Eliza if she wants a change.
