I vote Henry as Piper is a unisex name, so you should give him a strong masculine middle name!

Piper is a bold choice on a boy. I think it’s usable, but it’s definitely a girls name on a boy rather than unisex.

I like all your options, but I like Piper Jude best.

How about:

...Do you know how popular this name is on GIRLS and how UNPOPULAR this name is on BOYS...? Why would uou do that to your son? Why not at least make it a middle name?

Piper is most definitely unisex if not boyish on a girl! Piper is a surname name and an occupational name which are both historically categorized as masculine until fairly recently. Just because a boy’s name becomes popular for girls, it doesn’t mean it becomes strictly feminine.
Piper Jude got my vote!

We are aware of the popularity of the name for girls, but the name is unisex and we love it so we have no issues giving the name to our son. The only issue I have is that you somehow think we are doing him a disservice. Comments are welcome positive or negative, but please keep it kind.

In terms of usage, which is how I judge unisex, it’s not a unisex name. It’s a girls name. But as someone stated above, it’s definitely usable on a boy. I actually like it on any gender! Great name.

Oh, I really like Piper Vaughn, thank you! And thank you for your comment. I guess I never thought people had different ways of determining a unisex name. I’m old fashioned, I go by historical use, but your way makes sense to me.

I guess you have to ask yourself how you will respond if he has a girl Piper in his class. If he is referred to as Piper (insert your last initial) with one or two girls and no other boys with this name. Boys, especially young boys, may not like being associated with having a girl’s name. How you respond to it will determine in large part how he responds to it. But telling him that it was historically a boy name may not sufficient. I like Piper Cole.

The name is LOVELY! We need a world where boys and girls can coexist peacefully and sometimes share names! Times are changing and Piper’s name will likely make him individual!

In response to the comment above. Piper is as unisex as Taylor. When I was in school I knew three girl Taylors and five boy Taylors. Neither gender had a problem with it being used on the other. As for the poster Piper Jude is my favorite and then Piper Brooks.
