Spunky! I like it!

Not a fan boy or girl. I just don’t like the rid part of the name.

I love it! I’ve been seeing way too many people saying stuff like "too uncommon" or "too boyish" to unique names like this!! I think it would be such a cute name for a little girl and I’m sure she’ll be the only one she knows sporting such a cool name!

I like it:) I know a girl named Ridlee, she holds her name fabulously!

I don’t like it sorry. I think it sounds silly and I am so tired of all the random -ley names on girls.

Not a fan.

Love it. People are extremely biased on this site toward unisex names especially any unisex name ending in -ley for girl, like Ridley, Riley, Marley, Finley, etc.

I like it!! It’s very spunky. There’ll always be someone that doesn’t like the name, you can’t please everyone so you should use a name that you love!

I think it’s okay. Don’t love it or hate it. I agree with the poster who said they were tired of all the -ley names. But I think Ridley is more unique than your typical -ley name so go for it :)

Not a fan, but I’ve been hearing worse names out there. If you like it then use it.

I agree. Something new and fresh. No more Lee endings for girls ! Bye trend

^ a great example of how close minded people can be on this site.
I’ve never heard any hate on these types of names anywhere but this site. There’s a HUGE bias on here!

I say go for it! I’ve never met a Ridley and I think it’s a cool name

I don’t like it. It reminds me of "Riddling" or "Ritalin." It might sound cute, but only until about her 8th birthday.

Yes. I love it. Please use it!

I think it lends itself to lets get rid of you comments. I like surnames as baby names but I prefer them to have a nicknames so if the child doesn’t like the name style. Ridley doesn’t have an obvious one. I just think there are better options available

One of my best friends is named Ridley and i personally love the name and would name my child that if that wasn’t her name. It will age just fine. My friend just finished med school and wants to become a neuro surgeon.
posted by guest :: 7 years ago | report
That is ridiculous. Any name ages fine. I know adult Poppys and Pipers, for heavens sake, just about any name ages well. Ridley will do just fine. I say go for it

Ridley is a perfectly fine name. I personally really like it. The only "fad" I’m tired of is the Nevaeh fad. Lol!

There are adults with cutesy, little-girl/boy names, but they still look funny. Once you get to know the person, it’s one thing. But on paper their names look silly. No offense, but Ridley will get mistook for Riley a lot. It looks like a typographical error. She’ll forever be correcting people.

Love Ridley!! I personally don’t know any but if I ever have a girl it will be on my list :)

True that Ridley and Riley might be confused. You’ll be correcting your child’s school, the doctor’s office, the ballet studio, the swim instructor, the cake decorator, spell check, etc. Then she’ll be correcting people the rest of her life.

My friends name is Ridley and she never has to correct people actually. You people are all over reacting

Sorry to say it, but I think the same person is posting over and over again that they like it. Too similar of language for all the post. Plus I notice that if the person likes a name they will say they have a really successful friend with the same name. A Karsen poll has a similar posting. I like unisex or surnames but Ridley isn’t one I would use. Nameberry does call it trendy so if you are trying to avoid trendy I would go with something else.

I like it! I think it’s really cute. I once knew a Ripley; I like that one too.

It sounds too made up to me, sorry. It also sounds too much like riddle and looks like a typo of Riley.

i’m kind of on the fence with this one. i don’t love it, but i don’t hate it. i love a lot of "boy names on girls" and surnames on girls, but this one just doesn’t quite do it for me.

you love it though, so use it. it’s not horrible, it’s just not to everyone’s taste and that’s fine. how about

Ridley Louise
Ridley Acacia
Ridley Harriet
Ridley Jane

hope this helps

I love Ridley! I think it’s spunky and sweet and, yes, can age well. Good luck!

unless she’s off to kill the alien hive mother you should skip it, it’s terrible

if one more pea-brain talks about ’the bias’ on this site, it’s all BS just because they don’t agree with the opinions of others - all that does is hijack threads. Just state YOUR opinion ON THE NAME only and move on, don’t try to color every poll to your specs

There is an actor named Ridley Scott. So, I associate it was a guy.
It might be cute on a toddler. It won’t look good on a resume.
posted by guest :: 7 years ago | report
There is a huge bias on this site. Which is clear. Many people on this site hate unisex names on girls when in actuality, unisex names on girls are widely accepted in the US, which is clearly PROVEN but statistics.
I personally like Ridley a lot. I think it’s a great strong spunky name.
People that say it "Won’t age well" are ridiculous and ignorant. Any name will age fine... IT’S JUST A NAME
