Bellamy vs. Boys name
Trying to see what the general public think about the name Bellamy for a boys name. I love the sound of it and I don’t plan on shortening to a nickname. My husband is concerned people might call him Bella, Amy, Bells so he’s a little concerned. He would be named Bellamy Aaron or Bellamy Kent.

My daughter whos now 8 is named Bellamy. Didn’t have a nickname until she got to school and into sports. She was quickly nicknamed Bella and Bells, which she liked but I’m not sure your son would like as much, and you know, they could tell the other children to stop but... Thats doesn’t mean they will stop. Easy teasing potential if you as me

I like the name Bellamy for a boy. I don’t think it’s all that common on either gender. What’s wrong with being called Bella or Bells?

It’s a surname. I think of Bill Bellamy the comedian. Don’t care for it as a first name.

Bellamy is actually a boy name, a French boy name meaning "handsome" in fact. So I think it’s very nice for a boy. I highly doubt anyone would start calling him Bella or Amy since he is a boy not a girl, especially if you don’t already call him that. If you love the name then use it. Bellamy is a very nice name. But my son is 10 we named him Atticus and he gets called Atti, very similar to the girl’s nickname Addy(he actually has two Addies in his grade), and he doesn’t get made fun of. I think a little boy named Bellamy would be perfectly fine and it would look so good on an adult too!

It’s a boys’ name, not a girls’ name the same way James is a boys’ name and not a girls’ name. Doesn’t matter if a few parents give this name to their girls; it’s still a masculine name.

I don’t care about the whole boy name vs. girl name thing; I just don’t like the name.
