Opinions on vs. Rowena vs. Please
I’m in love with the name Rowena but opinions from family are mixed, so we’d like some thoughts from people on this site.We will use a double middle name (for two family members): Eleanor Alice (or Alice Eleanor). If we get too many negative reactions to Rowena, we are also considering Mara as a second choice.

Well...Rowena wouldn’t be my choice...I could live with Rowen (although it sounds like rowing) Alice Eleanor is nice. Mara or Maryn is ok...gl...and remember, you won’t please everyone.

Rowena is nice, but it really doesn’t go with the two middle names (in either order). Mara is also nice and flows better with the middle names. Mara Eleanor Alice is nice. If you do go with Rowena though, go with Rowena Alice Eleanor.

Rowena is wonderful. It lives in that is-it-English-or-Welsh? half light that I love. Rowena makes me think of Sir Walter Scott for some reason. Was she a character, Ivanhoe? I almost love the uncertainty of that.
Rowena is known, but not overly used. The baby name sweet spot. Rowena Eleanor Alice sounds so right. Mara is lovely too. But if Rowena is your first love you should go for it. Good luck! :0)

I think Rowena is really pretty, and Rowena Eleanor Alice is gorgeous. I do like Mara as well, but Rowena definitely seems to have your heart. Go for it!

P.P.S. If you still have cold feet, you may like a similar name: Rhona. It’s Irish, meaning "rough isle." My cousin Veronica goes by Rhona. Just food for thought.

I agree with posters 4 and 5 both Rowena and Mara are beautiful, go with the one you love because as poster 1 mentioned you won’t make everyone happy.

rule number one in baby naming: don’t tell anyone what the baby’s name is, or might be, until after they’re born!
Rowena is nice, but i prefer Mara. do you like Rowan/Rowen or is that too masculine for you?
i agree that Rowena doesn’t really flow well with your middle name options, but i think Rowena Eleanor Alice flows best, because Rowena Alice runs together, so it needs breaking up. my vote goes to Mara Eleanor Alice, but i would like Rowan Alice Eleanor.
