Crystal vs. Ruby vs. Opal
My husband and I have agreed on a ’gemstone’ name for our third daughter, since both my mother has a gemstone name Sapphire. I really like Crystal, Ruby or Opal, but don’t know which one to pick. I also really liked he name Pearl... but realised that it rhymes with hurl, so I went against it. Please give me your opinion. Thanks guys!
The Top Baby Name is...
Crystal
Ruby

I also love Amethyst nn Amy as suggested above. I like Crystal and Ruby is ok, but I don’t care for Opal.

Love that theme! Opal is incredibly beautiful, definitely the most beautiful of the three and has a soft and beautiful, almost ethereal sound to it.
Crystal is not as pretty imo but also WAY over used and a bit dated. Ruby is becoming very overused and almost seems trendy to me.
I was going to suggestion Sapphira (Greek, means sapphire) but then saw your mother’s name is Sapphire (which is also very beautiful!) though you could still use Sapphira which could also be a good way to honor her if you wanted to do something like that (though the theme itself already does).
So I love Opal but just for fun or incase you’re still looking, here are some other suggestions you might like...
Meena (Indian, means blue precious stone or tiny blue precious stone)
Gemma/Jemma
Jewel
Esmerelda (means emerald, love the nn Esme for this name)
Esmeralda
Aquamarine
Amethyst
Jade
Jada
Ula (means sea jewel)
Cordelia (means jewel of the sea)
Ambra (means amber)
Ambre (means amber)
Amber
Serpentine
Jorie (means pearl)
Opaline
Jasper
Margot (means pearl)
Margo
Jaden
Topaz
Mae (means pearl)
Onyx
Mairead (means pearl)
Alexandrite
Alexandrine
Coral
Amatrix
Mali (type of garnet)
Pearl is very pretty, I don’t think anyone would thick of "hurl" or care but that is obviously your call.

I would use nn Ama for Amethyst, both gorgeous names. Love Opal, like Ruby, tired of Crystal but would probably really like it if I wasn’t. Maybe it’s ready for a come back though, I don’t think many name their kids Crystal anymore so it will probably be unique as far as her class/generation goes.

Love Ruby! So beautiful. I personally really dislike Crystal (it’s always sounded a bit tacky to me, and Opal (has an awkward sound to me). Pearl is also sweet. May I suggest Gemma meaning Gem? Good luck!
