Drop "ton" because it makes it too masculine. And heavyset.

If it is being said LEE-ton then go with Leighton, if you want it said LAY-ton then spell it Layton. But for a girl I would go with Leighton because Layton is more masculine.

The only Layton I know is a teenage boy.
